These photographs are of Mary's art work in the book titled Fun in Twistle Wood written by Paddy Smith. Mary often signed her pictures with her full name Mary Brooks or with just a M or MB towards the bottom of the picture. The pictures in the books often appear to be cropped down from a large drawing and therefore are missing her signature.

Did you know that Mary Brooks, married name Penn, drew and illustrated childrens books including Enid Blyton's Stories. Mary is still alive and living in the UK. She is in the late 80s. Mary still draws. Collectors keep a look out as these drawings are still about at a low cost but not for long. Photographs of some Mary's excellent art work soon to follow on this blog.
